I’ve been designing covers for paperbacks, EBooks, and now audiobooks since 2006. I’m not a trained graphic designer, nor do I own Photoshop or any other wildly expensive design program (anyone who tells you such things are required to create fully functional and eye-catching book covers is trying pick your pocket). And yet, you’ll find book covers I’ve designed all over Amazon, Smashwords, iTunes, Kobo and everywhere else fine EBooks are sold. Why? Because I have a great eye for what looks good, I know where all the Public Domain and Creative Commons images are buried, and I have the knowledge, experience and creativity to put it all together into a knock-out final product — in just the right size and file format for every retailer out there.
But pictures speak louder than words. Here’s a slideshow of 50 book covers I’ve designed, so you can judge my tastes and talents for yourself. The slideshow can take a few minutes to load, but it’s worth it.
If I am narrating your audiobook, I’ll design a cover for you for free. If you don’t like it, don’t use it. No hard feelings. If you do like it, it’s yours to keep and use as you will, for your audiobook and for your EBook.
If I am not narrating your audiobook, and you just need a great cover, the price is a very reasonable $50 USD.
In both circumstances, if you have photos or other images you control the rights to that you’d like incorporated into the cover, just email them to me and I’ll make that happen. If you know of Public Domain or Creative Commons images on the Internet you’d like to use, just send me links and I’ll go grab copies. Or you can just shoot me your best ideas in words and trust me to flesh out the visuals.
